...Honestly, as angry as I've been about things, it's also probably the least stress I've felt in twelve years. Don't have to worry about people coming after you to kill you after they've already done it.

The guy that planned the whole assassination thing with Roland... he was the chief prosecutor for years, so pretty much near the top of the justice system, and he had lots of people working for him. Making things disappear — evidence, criminal charges against his friends, people who were inconvenient for him — it's his whole thing.

Never got a full night's sleep after I left, and I was always jumping at every unexpected sound. I eventually joined the circus because they travel a lot and I'd be harder to find without a permanent address.
