There was also a bunch of ice at the jail where they said they found Miss Shenhe, so I don't know why so few people seemed to really consider that she might have done it herself.
Aside from that... Monika was talking about the way the axe traps in some places were set up, how the doors were cracked just a little, so maybe someone used Drift Aura to be able to get out of the room after they set the trap up. Like, without setting it off themselves.
